We offer access to leading consultant Osteoporosis Physicians, Orthopaedic surgeons and Sports medicine doctors. We specialise in early diagnosis, treatment and optimal outcomes for osteoporosis and related musculoskeletal disorders.
Osteoporosis is a disease in which the density and quality of bone are reduced. As bones become more porous and fragile, the risk of fracture is greatly increased. The loss of bone occurs silently and progressively. Often there are no symptoms until the first fracture occurs.
At The London Osteoporosis Clinic, based at 9 Harley Street, we offer access to modern state of the art diagnostics and the best multidisciplinary treatments to help prevent further fractures or bone damage.
Osteoporosis can be present at any age but tends to affect older women and once it develops it can lead to fractures, but it can be treated and prevented.
- 1 in 2 women and 1 in 5 men are at risk from Osteoporosis.
- Osteoporosis can be reversed and fractures prevented.
- Early diagnosis can improve bone strength and prevent fractures. Fill out a small questionnaire here, to see if you could be suffering from symptoms of Osteoporosis.
Treating and diagnosing your condition
Your condition can be diagnosed by an X-ray or a special bone density scan, called a Dexa Scan. If your consultant recommends treatment this will be via an in-house multidisciplinary team. It is based on fracture prevention and medication to strengthen your bones. The decision on the treatment required will be made on a number of factors such as your age and the results of your scan.
If you are at risk of developing the disease we can advise you on steps to keep your bones strong and healthy.
Within our 9 Harley Street clinic we have in house diagnostic imaging facilities as well as a range of top Orthopaedic consultants that are on hand to help.
