Professional Profile
Chiara Landolfo received her specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Italy. She is fluent in English, French and Italian. She completed her training at Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna (Italy) in 2014, combining her education at Policlinico Sant’Orsola Malpighi with working at CHU Saint-Pierre in Brussels and KU Leuven (Belgium) between 2012 and 2014. She developed a special interest in the use of ultrasound in gynaecology, and at KU Leuven became part of the team running the International Ovarian Tumour Analysis trial (IOTA), probably the largest multicentre diagnostic trial on ovarian tumours in the world. She currently works with Prof Dirk Timmerman at KU Leuven and Prof Tom Bourne at Imperial College London. She moved to the United Kingdom in 2017 to work at Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital in London to further her research on Gynaecological Ultrasound and biomarkers to improve the assessment of women with ovarian cysts. She also contributes to the International Endometrial Tumour Analysis (IETA) and the Morphological Uterus Sonographic Assessment (MUSA) studies. She is member of the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG) and the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO). Chiara is part of the ISUOG Task Force for delivering Basic Training in ultrasonography, focused on education for trainees and gynaecologists. She is also a member of the ISUOG Clinical Standards Committee in Gynaecology. She regularly takes part in education, scientific presentations and courses on gynaecological ultrasound at national and international conferences.
