Dr Eva Carneiro is a Consultant in Sports and Exercise Medicine and was one of the first eight pioneering doctors recruited nationally to the Sports and Exercise Medicine Specialist Training Programme in the UK. She started her specialist training in Sydney Australia at the New South Wales Institute of Sport. She holds a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Sports and Exercise Medicine and is on the General Medical Council Sports and Exercise Medicine Specialist Register.
Qualifying from Nottingham in 1999, she was awarded a Special Excellence Award by the university for services to Sports Medicine.
She completed a Masters Degree at the University of London with her research in Football Hydration at West Ham United.
She worked full-time at Chelsea Football Club from 2009-2015. During her four seasons as First Team doctor/Assistant Medical Director the team was successful in winning Champions League, Premier League, Europa league, FA Cup and Capital One Cup titles. She worked with a total of seven elite international football managers and credited with the highest player availability rates for any team in the English Premier League.
Dr Carneiro worked at the Olympic Medical Institute UK in the build-up to the Beijing Olympics and England Women’s Football.
Her passion is to use the experience of injury management at elite club level to deliver elite sport and musculoskeletal medicine services within the private sector.
She is a Fellow at the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine (FSEM) and a member of the British Association of Sports and Exercise Medicine.
