Mr Adrian Lower
Speciality: Gynaecology and Obstetrics,
Adrian Lower studied medicine at Nottingham University Medical School after a brief spell in the Royal Navy. He completed a surgical rotation in Nottingham before commencing his Obstetrics and Gynaecology. After SHO posts in Nottingham he moved to London for a registrar post at the London Hospital in Whitechapel. In 1988 he became a Research Fellow at the London Hospital Medical College and furthering his interest in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery which has been the foundation of his career for the last 25 years. He completed further research in Perth, Western Australia where he was first introduced to in vitro fertilisation techniques. He put the knowledge he learned in Australia to good use during his time as Lecturer at the London Hospital Medical College, on his return, where he helped to set up the Royal London Hospital Fertility Clinic which later merged with the clinic at Barts. He underwent subspecialty training there in 1993-1995. He was appointed a Consultant to Barts and The Royal London Hospitals in 1995.
In 1999 he opened the Isis Fertility Centre in Colchester, supervising all aspects of the design and management of the clinic which was later sold to Bourn Hall. After a very successful 8 years at Barts and the London Mr Lower left the NHS to concentrate on the needs of his private patients.
He is now Medical Director of the Women’s Health Partnership Ltd and The London Fibroid Clinc based in a modern suite of rooms at 30 Devonshire St. The waiting area is shown on the right, the minimalist decor and striking pink carpet create a bold, funky atmosphere, different from most doctors’ offices.
Mr Lower is widely published in peer reviewed journals and acts as a reviewer himself. He has contributed to a number of major textbooks of Gynaecological Surgery. In addition, he is frequently invited to teach master classes in his areas of surgical specialty, as well as to speak at international scientific meetings on his chosen areas of research
He has also appeared in articles in the lay press, television and radio and acts as a spokesman for the British Fertilty Society. He has been listed in the Tatler Good Doctor Guide as one of the top 150 doctors in the country since 2005.
