Rowland qualified from the Royal London Hospital in 1995, completed surgical training at St Georges & Royal Marsden Hospitals, higher urological training on the Wessex rotation, and a fellowship in andrological surgery at the Institute of Urology, London. He is currently Consultant urologist and andrologist at University Hospitals Southampton, and for over a decade has provided a regional andrology service for the Wessex region. He is also Honorary Consultant Andrologist at UCLH, London where he provides an in-reach service for penile cancer and penile prosthesis surgery.

Rowland covers all aspects of andrology and male genital surgery, including urethral strictures, Peyronie’s disease, male incontinence, male infertility /, penile cancer and skin lesions, penile prosthesis surgery, as well as more common conditions such as foreskin issues and scrotal swellings. He performs over 300 procedures per year, including urethroplasty, penile prostheses, vasectomy reversal, Micro-TESE surgical sperm retrieval, Nesbit / Lue procedures, Artificial urinary sphincters and male slings.

Rowland was elected Chairman of the British Association of Urological Surgeons section of Andrology and Genito-urethral surgery 2018-2020, and represented the Wessex region on the NHS England’s Urology commissioning committee. He has published over 80 articles in the field of urology and andrology, is a regular speaker and teacher at regional, national and international academic meetings, and serves on the editorial board of academic journals in his specialist field.
