Mr Stuart Metcalfe Currently, he is the Clinical Head of the Department of Podiatry, Solent NHS Trust, which has one of the largest Podiatry services in the UK and is now developing a strong reputation for surgical training and research. Mr Stuart Metcalfe has a private practice in London at 9 Harley Street and Birmingham at the Spire Hospital. he has performed well over fifteen thousand foot operations and as such have enormous experience in the field of foot pathology. My particular areas of clinical interest are In 1990 he was awarded my undergraduate degree in Podiatry from Leicester University. Subsequently he completed my Fellowship in Podiatric Surgery in 1996. Three years later he completed his CCST (Podiatric Surgery) shortly after being appointed as the Consultant Podiatric Surgeon for Solihull NHS Trust. During his time as a junior, he trained under several world leading foot and ankle surgeons in both Europe and the USA completing both the Master Forefoot and Hindfoot Surgeons courses by the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons. This international experience as brought a greater depth and experience to my clinical practice which he has in turn used to benefit patients. Since his appointment as a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon in 2002 he developed two centres of excellence the first in Solihull, West Midlands where he was Clinical Head for over fifteen years. In 2011 he was invited to develop a new service from scratch in Hampshire which has become renowned for its high standards of clinical care. Throughout the years he has been awarded numerous clinical governance awards for excellence in clinical practice, a testament to his team’s dedication to patient care. In 1998 he conceived the UK’s first fully sponsored educational conference dedicated to Podiatric Surgery. Three years later, he set-up the first European Cadaver training for UK Podiatric Surgeons. He continues to lecture nationally and internationally to Podiatric and Orthopaedic colleagues expanding skills and experience to those with an interest in foot pathology. he has strong collaborative links to both the University of Southampton and Manchester. In addition to lecturing, he has served as an external advisor to NICE and written a number of the NHS clinical expert pages. His research to date has produced a series of publications and co-authorship of the text “Injection Therapy of the Lower Limb”. In 2013, he was awarded an MPhil by the School of Biomedical Sciences, Manchester Metropolitan University for my postgraduate research in to paediatric flat foot.
